About Sidney, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Sidney, Illinois is a small village located in Illinois’ Champaign County. As of 2010, the population was approaching 1,300. Sidney is located approximately 13 miles southeast of the Champaign-Urbana area, 95 miles east of Springfield, and 115 miles west of Indianapolis. Historically, Sidney is known for being a site of the Potawatomi Trail of Death, which passed through here in 1838.

As a small community, there are few notable businesses in Sidney, although there are some popular restaurants that you might want to check out when visiting the area – the Sidney Saloon, Grandma’s Kitchen, and Casey’s Carry Out Pizza. Sports fans might like to make the quick drive to Champaign in order to check out a Fighting Illini basketball or football game at the State Farm Center or Memorial Stadium.

As part of a humid continental climate zone with mid-latitude weather, Sidney residents experience a variety of weather conditions throughout the year:

  • Summer. Summer months in Sidney are hot and humid. July is the hottest month, with average daily highs reaching the mid-80s. Severe storms are quite likely during this season.
  • Autumn. Conditions cool off during the autumn months, but they are usually quite pleasant. Average daily highs in October reach about 66 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Winter. Winters in Sidney tend to be quite snowy and cold. Average daily highs rise just above the freezing point in January, while overnight lows fall into the teens.
  • Spring. Sidney is located in Tornado Alley, and unfortunately, the area experiences a large number of tornadoes relative to the rest of the U.S. Average high temperatures in May tend to rise to about 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and this is also the rainiest month.

Due to the varied weather conditions in the area, residents will need to invest in both home heating and cooling systems. A qualified HVAC tech can help them to choose the best possible system.
